Our Story
PurBlend Science, Inc. was founded in San Diego, California in 2016 with a single mission: bring pure, science-based products and processes to the emerging hemp and cannabis industry.
At a time when the industry was young, standards were inconsistent, and most extraction methods were destroying the very compounds that made hemp valuable, PurBlend set out to do it differently.
The founding question was straightforward: how do you convert hemp into a pure flower oil that faithfully represents the original strain — without impurities, without degrading the natural cannabinoid and terpene profile that defines each plant?
The answer became the PBX Standard.
The Inventor
Mark Vuozzo
Chief Technical Officer, PurBlend Science, Inc.
Mark Vuozzo is not a typical CBD company executive. He is an engineer, entrepreneur, and inventor who came to the hemp industry with a specific problem to solve — and the technical depth to solve it.
Mark graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1984 with a degree in Electronics Engineering. His early career was spent in the semiconductor industry in the field of Automated Test Equipment — a discipline built on precision, process control, and uncompromising measurement standards.
In 1989 he founded MV Technical Sales, Inc., a company servicing ATE users worldwide that grew to $25 million per year before he sold his interest in 2004. In 2006 he co-founded Eco Building Products, Inc., a publicly traded company with patented technology for protecting lumber against mold, rot, termites, and fire.
He founded PurBlend Science in 2016 because he saw the same problem in hemp that he had spent his career solving in other industries: a gap between what the raw material was capable of and what existing processes were actually delivering.
His background in electrical engineering explained the process rigor. His background in organic chemistry explained what was being lost in conventional extraction — heat degradation, terpene destruction, solvent contamination — and how to prevent it.
The result was the PBX Standard.

To bridge the gap between farmers and the oil produced — delivering full spectrum, strain-specific oils that are truly representative of the farmer’s craft.
The Company Today
PurBlend Science manufactures all products in a licensed facility in the United States. Hemp is sourced from farms in Oregon, Illinois, and Colorado in compliance with Farm Bill 2018 regulations.
Every product in the PurBlend line is third-party tested for cannabinoids, terpenes, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals, bacteria, mycotoxins, and pesticides.
