Chamomile contains alpha-bisabolol and chamazulene, which inhibit COX and 5-LOX respectively — the same enzyme families targeted by ginger and Boswellia elsewhere in this line. Germany’s Commission E, a respected herbal-medicine authority, has approved chamomile specifically for inflammatory skin conditions and wound and burn therapy.
Calendula’s active compounds, faradiol esters, inhibit the same COX and 5-LOX pathways, while its polysaccharides directly stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen production. A clinical trial found calendula cream significantly reduced the severity of radiation-induced skin dermatitis in cancer patients compared to standard treatment.
